Born in Jayuya, Puerto Rico, in 1971, Osvaldo 'Ozzy' Vazquez moved to Chicago at the tender age of two, where he found himself in a challenging neighborhood in the city's south side. By the age of five, Ozzy's journey took him to Dunkirk, New York, located in Chautauqua County. Despite being raised in financially constrained circumstances within rough neighborhoods, Ozzy was blessed with extraordinary parents who provided a nurturing environment.

Completing his high school education, Ozzy embarked on a professional journey that began in the food manufacturing industry. Starting with no prior experience or formal higher education, he demonstrated remarkable resilience and adaptability. Over the years, Ozzy climbed the corporate ladder with unwavering determination, transitioning from a lead person to a supervisor, and eventually ascending to the role of a corporate manager, all achieved without the traditional path of a college degree.

Ozzy's life is also marked by his commendable service in the New York National Guard. For eight years, he served as an M1A1 tank driver, a role that underscored his dedication to duty and country. His service was notably distinguished during the tragic events of September 11, 2001. Ozzy and his unit were deployed to the World Trade Center, where they conducted various critical missions and played an essential role in the security operations at Ground Zero. In recognition of his exceptional service, Ozzy was awarded The Defense of Liberty Medal, which included a gold World Trade Center device. This prestigious accolade was personally bestowed by Governor Pataki at the 69th Infantry Armory in Manhattan.

A decade ago, Ozzy made a significant move to Rochester, marking another chapter in his life of resilience and achievement. Ozzy Vazquez's story is a testament to the power of perseverance, the importance of family support, and the ability to triumph over adversity, both in his professional endeavors and in his service to the nation.
