[00:00:01] Show introduction: In a world that seems to change daily, what will you do next? Welcome to the next steps show with Peter Vasquez, a starting point for discussion.
[00:00:14] Bob Savage: Well, ladies and gentlemen, we were supposed to have, Mike Hennessy, who you heard on the station, on the program along with Peter today. Unfortunately, Mike's, sitting on the side of four ninety with a flat tire. However, we did, Peter, talk to some Democrats, and we found a Michael q Hennessy Oh. Which, we we can, we can we can have, just kidding now, folks. But, wow, what a story.
[00:00:38] Peter Vazquez: Oh, that was delicious. I know. I love it.
[00:00:40] Michael Hennessy: Think of what Q might stand for. But
[00:00:43] Bob Savage: you know, Mike Jassy, Mike Schmenese, they're all the same.
[00:00:46] Peter Vazquez: You know
[00:00:46] Bob Savage: what I mean? So just find another one.
[00:00:48] Peter Vazquez: Yeah. Apparently, they're doing it locally. It's just amazing what what people go to or the extent they go to to steal something. It's amazing to me. Yeah. Ladies and gentlemen, Mira, there's no more introduction. Right? You know? People know you. People love you. People love the work that you do. The honorable Mike Hennessy, executive director of Youth for Christ Rochester, a hero in our community, sir.
[00:01:11] Michael Hennessy: Oh, you're too kind, Peter.
[00:01:12] Peter Vazquez: I'm I'm gonna have to take your national treasure title away at least for today's show.
[00:01:16] Bob Savage: I'm... I willingly relinquish it.
[00:01:19] Peter Vazquez: Ladies and gentlemen, lines are open. (585) 346-3000. (866) 552-1009. We're on social media. We're all... We're we're there. Rumble, Facebook, X, all over the place. No torpedoes? No. No. What is the torpedoes? No. No. We have we have one one one interesting comment, though, that I wanna share from from from our social media work that we do, and I shared it with you, Mike, before we we came on air. Yeah. And I think it's important that we allow dialogue as long as the dialogue is appropriate and, and, you know, and the language that's being used is is intended to unite, and we can't take away someone else's opinion.
[00:01:58] Peter Vazquez: Now we can highlight the hypocrisy in some of these comments, can we not? I don't wanna discourage dialogue, but all dialogue is open to scrutiny, discussion, and so forth. It's open to dialogue. That's what... Exactly. So so on the next step shows Facebook page this morning, early, I posted the, the sites of where we can go do the, you know, our early voting. Right? Because it's underway. There's a whole bunch of different locations. And and someone with the handle s m s, n o v e l. Right? They they they commented on this very politely, very well and are appreciated.
[00:02:33] Peter Vazquez: And as a matter of fact, I encourage everybody to go to nextstepshow.com social media. And, and check it out. Leave your comments. Actonally, stand by it. So this person said this, and and pastor Mike... And I'm using the word pastor because I got... I gotta ask you as a pastor a follow-up question on this post. I'm ready. Okay. The the post, it it says this. It says, thank you for sharing all 15 early voting sites. You're welcome. Helpful for Monroe County voters today. Absolutely is.
[00:03:02] Peter Vazquez: This was, and then they go on to say, Rochester Affinity Church plan endorses Samra Brooke, Democrat working families for New York State fifty fifth sentence for her focus on moral duties towards the vulnerable and expanding mental health issues, mental health, resources across Monroe County.
[00:03:24] Peter Vazquez: And then, of course, to give their website for you guys to go check it out. Pastor, I'm struggling with this because I don't wanna, again, discount anybody's opinion. I promote dialogue and discussion. But but when someone uses the word church and and church defined as we know it. Right? Where where there's more than the... Or where there's two or more people gathered, god is always in the center. That's church. Right? Church is in our heart. Church is, a a flush thing, not a brick and mortar thing. Correct. But but but then there's a political candidate that's being endorsed by a particular church. Mhmm.
[00:03:58] Peter Vazquez: So I'm assuming the implications legally, tax, that they've already explored all this. So we'll we'll set that aside. Okay. But they're influential. In this particular candidate, in the word moral, I have not seen hand in hand.
[00:04:11] Michael Hennessy: Yeah. Well, you know, there... Most conservative pastors would think... Or at least voice that they would think that that's illegal because there's supposedly a Johnson amendment that, president Johnson enacted when he was in office that said that a church can't endorse a political candidate.
[00:04:33] Michael Hennessy: And, many pastors use that as an excuse not to talk about politics. Mhmm. And they shouldn't use it as an excuse not to talk politics. Because if you notice, liberal churches have been endorsing candidates
[00:04:46] Speaker 4: for a hundred and fifty years.
[00:04:48] Peter Vazquez: Not just endorsing. Oh, they're gonna go
[00:04:50] Michael Hennessy: on stage and and anointing with oil. It's, it's amazing, but that's okay because they're they're they're liberal churches. But if a conservative church did that, you know, they would have a lot of, pressure come on them about that Johnson amendment. And I would say to this pastor, challenge that because it's absolutely what he did. And it and it... To me, what I've studied about the Johnson amendment, it was little more than a than a, executive order, which which congress may or may not have voted for him. Very majority congress That's
[00:05:28] Bob Savage: good. Democrats. Ask for an amendment to what? Yeah. No.
[00:05:31] Michael Hennessy: No. He, he... The the... What I've read about is he was worried he was, worried about, I'm not even gonna get into that weeds. He made an executive order that was apparently, voted in... Voted approved by Congress of majority Democrats, not one Republican voted for it that put this Johnson minimum that you can't endorse a candidate. But nobody's ever challenged it because it's blatantly constitute... Unconstitutional. Right? And I would say to any pastor who would get challenged on this, say, just just take it to court because you're you're eventually gonna win. Just think about this.
[00:06:07] Michael Hennessy: So a pastor, a man of God, a man of the cloth, a priest, could add absolutely lose his first amendment right of expression of freedom of religion from the pulpit of all places.
[00:06:20] Michael Hennessy: It's absolutely unconscious in defiance of the first amendment. So I don't I don't have a problem with the church endorsing a candidate. What I have a problem with is is so many pastors believe that they can't. And it's... And I would just say challenge it, and eventually, you'll win.
[00:06:35] Peter Vazquez: And clarify it. Because when you're using words like Murrow coming from the mouth of someone who claims to be, well, god fearing and biblical Yeah. Right, that that has a completely different, a a weight to it. And the thing is this. And and people say this about the socialist, party as well. They say, well, you can't judge every single Democrat, by what the Democrat socialists are doing. And I said, well, maybe, I guess, you're right because you gotta look at the individual. Absolutely. Yeah. But when you stand up and you say, I represent this.
[00:07:06] Peter Vazquez: You know, I chose to have the show in WYSL because I didn't wanna just represent what I'm doing on my show.
[00:07:11] Michael Hennessy: Me too.
[00:07:12] Peter Vazquez: I I wanted to be supported by something that's representing values that are God, country, and family. Right. Anyways.
[00:07:18] Michael Hennessy: Well... And and and and I didn't want my show on a on a Christian station anyway because I want people to... Who aren't necessarily considering faith in their daily walk to consider faith in their daily walk.
[00:07:28] Peter Vazquez: Otherwise, you're a choir.
[00:07:29] Michael Hennessy: Yeah. But, I had something else I wanted to say, but I lost it. So go ahead.
[00:07:34] Peter Vazquez: No. It doesn't come back to me. Until See, that's it. My father said this. Peter, you talk a lot.
[00:07:38] Michael Hennessy: I had a point, but I lost it.
[00:07:40] Peter Vazquez: And
[00:07:40] Michael Hennessy: what you were talking about. Bob?
[00:07:43] Bob Savage: Because I don't know what his point was. You're asking me what What?
[00:07:46] Peter Vazquez: Supposed to What
[00:07:48] Bob Savage: were you talking about again?
[00:07:49] Michael Hennessy: Were you... To be four... What were you... What was you... What was your your last He
[00:07:53] Bob Savage: expected talking about first first amendment from the, from the pulpit and the... And losing that, and why why the clergy, I don't know. It seems kinda like a a convenient thing. This is, well, you know, I got a Johnson amendment, and so I really shouldn't and, blah blah. It's a policy thing.
[00:08:12] Michael Hennessy: I know what I was gonna say. Thank you, Bob. There used to be a time, Peter, when there was a line between politics and immorality. That line no longer exists. When politics is talking about... And this started with marriage. When it... When politics started going, changing the definition of marriage and changing the definition of gender and changing the definitions of everything that's biblical, that's where the the church has to get involved.
[00:08:41] Michael Hennessy: If a if a pastor can't talk about immoral politics, then he can't talk against morality in general.
[00:08:48] Peter Vazquez: Did you just describe a separation of church and state?
[00:08:51] Michael Hennessy: Well, that's that's another law. Despite of that, yeah, exactly.
[00:08:54] Bob Savage: It doesn't exist. It's
[00:08:55] Michael Hennessy: another law. That...
[00:08:55] Bob Savage: That's just... That... That's like people thinking that the, the poem on the, the plaque on the Statue Of Liberty is somehow a law of some sort.
[00:09:03] Michael Hennessy: The separation of church and state was was meant as a protection against the church from the state, not from the state from the church. It was absolutely the opposite of what most people accepted it.
[00:09:14] Speaker 5: So it
[00:09:14] Bob Savage: was it was to prevent the establishment of a state religion. Correct.
[00:09:17] Peter Vazquez: But but it's the lie that's perpetuated in our society that has so many people afraid. And not just churches, nonprofit leaders. Well, that's tied to money. Right? So it's not that they're afraid of losing something other than money, which irritates me even more than anything else. Because I don't understand how you could serve anybody in a human service capacity and exclude God from the factoring decision. I I preach a God show.
[00:09:40] Michael Hennessy: But Listen. If you're afraid that you're gonna lose somebody and lose their money, then you're not counting... You're not trusting God for your ministry. Because I'm telling you, if you if you lose, people for speaking the truth in politics and you lose a couple people and you lose their tithes, gotta replace them with 10 people with with 10 times more tithe in order to support the fact that you're telling the truth.
[00:10:01] Peter Vazquez: Let let... I'm gonna ask... Okay. There's a a a candidate who says... And and many of them, actually, a lot of them do. They say, you know, we do everything that the community does. If the community wants me to go left, I'm gonna go left, community being their, constituents. Right? If they want me to go right, I'll go right. Right? But then they say they do this all in prayer. What happens when that contradicts when your constituent just say, no. Wait a minute. I want you to go left. However, though, you're praying and you're like, I know in my heart that's not where I gotta go. What what does that do for those candidates?
[00:10:34] Michael Hennessy: It's not god telling you to do whatever your constituents say. He tells you that if... To to to speak the truth in love, and if you and if you if you speak, cold instead of warm, he wants... He'd rather you either be cold or hot, not warm. If you're if you're talking out of both sides of your mouth or or, you know, he's gonna spit you out.
[00:10:55] Peter Vazquez: You know, I, I I need to stop saying this, but I can't stop.
[00:10:58] Speaker 6: You know
[00:10:58] Peter Vazquez: why I can't stop? Because I believe in prayer. I believe in God. You know, I I I tell people you can't can't hurt me, you can't kill me, you can't take anything away from me. I mean, I guess... Because once once upon a time, I slept on a on a on a park bench as well. Yeah. And and the thing is, my love for God didn't become any less. As a matter of fact, that's when I started truly realizing that, wait a minute, prayer truly has to have feet. And when you put those feet to prayer, you're fearless.
[00:11:26] Michael Hennessy: K. Because
[00:11:27] Peter Vazquez: you start... Let me stop. Okay. You know, next thing you know, I'm gonna start singing here.
[00:11:31] Michael Hennessy: This wouldn't work for you, but god says he numbers the hairs on our on our head.
[00:11:34] Peter Vazquez: Yeah.
[00:11:35] Michael Hennessy: I think so. Only god determines when I'm gone. You have nothing to do with... You gotta get through him if you wanna take me out.
[00:11:40] Peter Vazquez: (585) 346-3000. (866) 552-1009. Mike, when we get back, we're gonna talk local candidates right at the supervisor level, see what they stand for, and see what advice we can offer. Ladies and gentlemen, those lines are open for you too. Candidate, you got a pitch you wanna sell? Fine. Give us a call. Tell us what to stand for. If you want us to say we prayed for you, pick up that phone because we'll do that today too. Right, Bob? You betcha. Right. Amen. Amen. The voice of liberty. That's Liberty. Yeah. We're in a little, wade
[00:12:16] Bob Savage: in the water here, River Jordan. This is Ramsey Lewis and also the Bonnie's theme. Bonnie's basketball coming to the Voice of Liberty just a few days. WDAYS L, WDAYA join the conversation. (585) 346-3000. Pastor Mike Hennessy along with pastor, Chaplain, I guess we call him, Peter Vasquez. We'll be right back.
[00:14:08] Peter Vazquez: Co hosting with me, ladies and gentlemen, today, not only is Senor Sabaje, the national treasure sea, but another national treasure sea right here in our own backyard, the honorable Michael Hennessy, host of Good News Talk.
[00:14:21] Peter Vazquez: I love that. Good news. How did you come up with that? What is it? Hang on. Hang on. Don't don't... It's, God in the marketplace.
[00:14:28] Michael Hennessy: Faith in the marketplace.
[00:14:29] Peter Vazquez: Faith in the marketplace. Let... Let's see what Keith has to say about faith in the marketplace and what we're talking about. Keith, thank you for calling the Next Step Show today, brother. Keith?
[00:14:40] Bob Savage: I'm just waiting. Hello, Keith. I'm here. Hey. There you are.
[00:14:46] Caller Keith: Okay. Picking up on, that phrase, since you used it of, open discussion in the marketplace, one of the big problems of all people across the planet today is that people today are less full literary anchored in past generations.
[00:15:04] Caller Keith: People read, they kept up on literature period. Many people today can't even do cursive writing. I've even seen when people go to write their own signature, they print. And when they're asked to do script, they just, say blank. I I never learned
[00:15:21] Bob Savage: Yeah. Curse of writing.
[00:15:24] Caller Keith: Historians use letters from colonial times to, find out what was the thinking of the time, and, we've gotten away from that. So future historians are gonna have a tougher time to seeing how what we came about. And in closing, we don't have that deeper literature base. This is why I don't go to church. A lot of pastors today, they just are stupid and they're talking. They are not... If you, anyone, do not have a a deeper based value in critical thinking and simply knowing how to think and talk and reason and just be a decent human being.
[00:16:04] Caller Keith: You watch in coming decades. If you think it's bad now with a lot of these mouth breathers that are coming out of these government propaganda schools. It's gonna be very bad in the future when people are just so stupid. They cannot take their way out of a a a a paper bag. It's very bad today. We have illiterate classes. I'm using that term, the class, and so far as categorizing people, across the across the population and all classes, poor and rich people today are dumber in their thoughts.
[00:16:40] Caller Keith: They just don't read. They they are not anchored in a a truer literary culture.
[00:16:47] Peter Vazquez: You guys... You know, because, Keith, you've been around for a while, and I think at one point, you shared you're you're closer to, Bob's age than mine. And and and and I say that respectfully, but I want this from a perspective from you because you got a critical eye. Yesterday was Internet day, and I posed a question and I asked, has the Internet changed us for the better or for the worse? I'm sure I'm paraphrasing my question. But, Keith, you've been around for a while. You don't hold back.
[00:17:13] Peter Vazquez: Do you think that the Internet after fifty fifty seven years, because it's just a little older than me but much younger than you, made a significant difference in everything you're talking about that's gone bad?
[00:17:24] Caller Keith: Well, but the good is that it gets information around, much quicker, but there's the old, dastardly maxim,
[00:17:33] Peter Vazquez: if
[00:17:33] Caller Keith: I can get it out, that says a a lie makes its way around the world, faster than the truth can get its shoes on. So it's good, insofar as the efficiency, that's the Internet, but always there a lot of gobbledygook on there, flat out lies. The lady they say, in passing, don't believe Wikipedia. Check it. Check it. Google everything, that they put in there. It's put in there by human beings. We all make mistakes. We have to constantly check and verify. So like anything else, it's a plus and a minus.
[00:18:09] Peter Vazquez: Keith, Mike.
[00:18:11] Michael Hennessy: I I would agree, Keith, that, you know, the number one, failure of, not reading and not paying attention to literary treasures Bible. Because without the Bible, none of the other literature matters.
[00:18:25] Caller Keith: Well, but try and get people up. I I I know. And, if you don't know, sir, my, father was a clergyman Yeah. Flat out an Episcopal priest. You saw my father in his priestly garb, white collar, and black clerics because most people are visual. You would have thought for yourself, I am looking at a Catholic priest Yeah. When exactly was a pistol pallet. I'm here because a pistol clergy can marry Catholics and not. So very simply right there. Yeah. But, the the the the point is is that the the denomination politely doesn't matter. But you're right. If you don't open the bible to begin with...
[00:19:06] Caller Keith: And many people today in closing, including clergy, as you stated earlier, are not bible based. We we are left adrift here, all of us, and it's not the same. Well said. To say I'm too pessimistic, but it's very bad out here. It's just very, very bad.
[00:19:23] Peter Vazquez: Keith Keith, I appreciate the call. I truly do.
[00:19:25] Bob Savage: Keith's line is open at (585) 346-3000.
[00:19:29] Peter Vazquez: So so, you know, and it and it kills me because everything that he talked about truly starts at the most local level of politics between your school board, your town and village boards, your your supervisors.
[00:19:43] Peter Vazquez: And we forget those races sometimes. And the turnout is even worse in some of those races. And the, the we're gonna vote for the lesser evil sometimes even gets worse in some of those races, which ends up trickling upward, not in a good way, Mike.
[00:20:00] Michael Hennessy: Yeah. Well, I... No. And there's a there's a lot of talk about, you know, people saying I won't vote for the lesser of two evils. Well, then you're gonna get more evil. You know? We're we're we're not on this. We're We're not in heaven yet. And if we expect we're gonna get a candidate that that isn't full of evil in some area, then then we're just fooling ourselves. And, you know, and I and I hear all the the the the posts, and I see them all that say, well, I'm gonna keep my moral integrity, and I'm not going to... Or my biblical integrity, and I'm not gonna vote for a candidate, over one policy or another.
[00:20:36] Michael Hennessy: And I say, well, that's part of the problem. And in fact, it's a big part of the problem because less evil is still less evil, and we have to vote for less evil every single time we vote or do anything. We have to choose less evil over more evil while we're on earth.
[00:20:50] Bob Savage: Yeah. Well, that's that's kind of the essence of being a Christian. Is it not choice? I mean, and and I just wanna circle. But Mike Hennessy Willis, by the way, from YFC Rochester. Let's circle back to, politics from the pulpit for just a minute because we kinda started out on that note. Yeah.
[00:21:06] Speaker 10: How... I I
[00:21:07] Bob Savage: ask you this question. How... If if you're a pastor and you're, you know, you're currently allergic to, to talking about anything that has a political fallout because of fear of, I don't know, the Johnson Amendment or whatever whatever rubric you come up with.
[00:21:25] Bob Savage: Yeah. How... It'll be this. I mean, how how can you be wrong if when you when you espouse, an issue, you know, in the house of God and it's, expressed in a way that is the truth as you pointed out, but, but it also brings him greater glory and and elevates people.
[00:21:47] Bob Savage: I mean, how could you go wrong with that, please? That's gotta be explained
[00:21:51] Michael Hennessy: to me. Well, you can you can go wrong temporarily, but you can't go wrong eternally, because god's going to, judge you based on every word that you said. You know? And I I say this. If if someone came to the pastor in a closed door and said, pastor, the school is transitioning my kid. They're taking my boy. They're helping her... Him to become a girl. They've changed his name. They have a closet full of clothing that they can... That he... That the child changes into against my wishes and knowledge when they get to school. Oh, and they're sending him to the nurse to start getting him hormone treatments to change his sex.
[00:22:30] Michael Hennessy: What should I do, pastor? You know? And if he doesn't give her a moral answer, then that woman or her parents should run from that church so fast. They couldn't let the door hit them on the way out. And and the and the whole point is, if he'd say it to... He has to take that kid out of the school or or go fight it. If he can say it to that person, he better be able to say it to the whole congregation because there may be people going through that that aren't... Don't have the courage to come to you.
[00:23:00] Peter Vazquez: Plus those people are gonna need leadership and the whole congregation behind
[00:23:04] Speaker 4: them Yeah.
[00:23:05] Peter Vazquez: In order to be able to be successful. And if it's not being led by the shepherd in that particular church
[00:23:11] Michael Hennessy: And that's current day politics, folks. That isn't that isn't that isn't... That's that's where we are. And if we can't speak against it as a pastor, then, you know, maybe it's time to find another line of work. I hate to say it.
[00:23:25] Bob Savage: And Well, yeah, I don't I don't... Listen. I I I don't pretend, that the job of a pastor, in in, you know, in delivering the word of God in a message that, that is good for the congregation and also good for the church.
[00:23:40] Bob Savage: I I don't pretend that that's an easy job. I I understand you gotta walk some lines here,
[00:23:45] Michael Hennessy: but it... It's always gonna bear fruit, Bob. The Bible promises that, pastor, that when you speak the truth There you go. In a way that it can be accepted by an unbeliever, you're gonna bear fruit. Whether you can see it that next week or not, you're gonna bear fruit.
[00:23:59] Peter Vazquez: And the only line, the only tight rope that anybody who professes to be a a a pastor, a chaplain, or a a minister of any sort, right, like it says, I am here to guide you in Christ.
[00:24:13] Peter Vazquez: It's not a tight rope back because Jesus will always have your back. There's no question. Said,
[00:24:18] Michael Hennessy: I I come. I'm gonna offend everybody when I come.
[00:24:22] Peter Vazquez: Right? I pray and I believe, but should not be in your vocabulary. We'll be right back right here. See, on the next TED show with the honorable, Michael Hennessy. See, good news Talk host and the national treasure,
[00:30:38] Peter Vazquez: I don't know. I I I don't know there, Senor Craig Sabajev. We gotta we gotta make sure it's him and not a decoy. You know, you brought it up in the beginning. It can't be.
[00:30:48] Michael Hennessy: Q. Is it Michael q?
[00:30:49] Peter Vazquez: Yeah. Michael Michael q. Michael something. You might see white hair. You're never looking.
[00:30:54] Michael Hennessy: You can never have too many Michael Hennessy's because we're all pretty good looking and charming.
[00:30:58] Peter Vazquez: You know what I always see in you? Just a a passion for the work that you do, a passion for God. You've been consistent since the day I met you. And and, Bob, you don't find that too often in people. You just don't. And I'm not saying that because you're a sponsor and and and you're here. I'm saying that because I've known you before I knew the show.
[00:31:19] Michael Hennessy: Well, I could say the same thing about you, Peter. You know, when I... I think I met you for the first time when you were one of my first guests here on That was. Good News Talk back in 2019. And, I remember asking you one day, and I and I tell people this all the time because I'm very proud of it, that, you know, I asked you one day, so did I introduce you to the station, or did you know about the station before I had you on Good News Talk? And you said, no. I knew about the station, but you taught me that it's not only not only possible, but right to share gospel on... In scripture on the radio.
[00:31:53] Peter Vazquez: Oh, that's the promise of And I
[00:31:54] Michael Hennessy: and I... And that's... I take that as the fruit of, but one of the big fruits of Good News Talk is now you're here every Monday through Friday sharing scripture on the radio. And if I had anything to do with that, well, praise god.
[00:32:07] Peter Vazquez: Yes. You absolutely did, at least from my perspective. Good News Talk. It's on...
[00:32:12] Michael Hennessy: And and not for nothing, but Bob Savage allowed me to come on the show and talk about a faith led show. Not just a faith based show, but a a a show that's led by faith.
[00:32:23] Peter Vazquez: Oh, man. He's one of those guys when I said, I wanna talk about God on the radio. He said, how much money you got? No. I'm just kidding. I'm kidding. I'm kidding. I'm kidding. That was that was the pastor when I was running for state assembly at... I won't... It doesn't matter, I guess, what church. But at a church in the city, right, who who would not his people, his his team, I guess, wouldn't allow me, to come into the church to have the conversation that was scheduled, unless I would state how much my check was gonna be for for and then presumably leave a check.
[00:32:55] Michael Hennessy: Now, you know, I don't know. God says, you know, when you give, don't let your left hand know what the right hand is doing. So, he's not interested in how much money is changing hands. He's he's interested in the truth getting it under... Interchanged.
[00:33:08] Peter Vazquez: Which is why pastors who don't know anything about their, their their accounts payable or their accounts receivables, I love them because they shouldn't. That's not their focus. That's what you hire us. I mean, I get you guys gotta be involved.
[00:33:21] Michael Hennessy: Of course.
[00:33:22] Peter Vazquez: But but but see, that's that's, you know why I'm not a pastor? Because like Bob said earlier, the life you guys live, I'm like, well, god, I don't know if I'm worthy of it, to be honest with you. Yeah. I mean, that's that's not just a tough life. I mean, it's a it's a life that has so many rewards.
[00:33:39] Michael Hennessy: Well, you know, and I've always listened. When when my pastor, Ron Domino, said, you know, I've been praying about you, and it's time for you to be ordained, I almost collapsed. I said, no. No. No. I don't want... I I don't see myself in working in the in the church, pastorizing. Oh, no. No. No. No. No. No. No. I want to... You need to be ordained for the work you're already doing. We don't need more pastors in the church. We need need more pastors in the marketplace. And, so I was ordained as a pastor to the marketplace. And, and, you know, people give me a hard time all the time. You're a pastor, and you're talking all this politics.
[00:34:13] Michael Hennessy: What's with this? I said, well, it's my calling. God called me to do this, and why did he call me to do it? Because so many pastors won't.
[00:34:19] Bob Savage: Explain what that means, being ordained. What, what does that confer upon you? What status does that provide? How does that help you do your job?
[00:34:27] Michael Hennessy: It it it... It's it's it's simply... It's kinda like baptism. It's a public testimony that you've decided to ask Jesus into your heart. It's a... It's it's a making a public profession of your calling. And, so he decided that that, my my work needed to be, confirmed as as a calling and or... And and ordained in it. It also, gives you some tax benefits that, you wouldn't have otherwise. But, you know, other than that, you know, the reason I the reason I, baulked when he first told me was because, you know, I always felt... I heard a pastor, named, oh my god, Elevation Church, Steve Furdick. He... I was listening to a sermon of his one day.
[00:35:14] Michael Hennessy: He's got 12 locations down in Charlotte. And he said, I don't want a good China face. I want a paper plate face. I want a plate that you just don't pull out on holidays and special occasions. I want a faith that you use every day. And, to me, that has become... That's how faith in the marketplace came. That's how good news talk became real was we need to have conversations that faith needs to be relevant in your everyday life or it's not relevant. Any faith that's not relevant in your everyday life is not relevant because we're on earth. God put us here in this environment that we live in.
[00:35:52] Michael Hennessy: That's why I rail when I when I when I see, you know, what I think sometimes is hyper spirituality where you're so spiritually minded that you're no worldly good because, you know, I say, you know, who was the who was the loudest mouth apostle?
[00:36:07] Michael Hennessy: Who was the one that was always had one foot in the kingdom and one foot in the world, always shooting his mouth off and getting shooting his... Himself in the foot? What what apostle was that? That Peter. Peter. Who'd... At the end before... Just before he left for the kingdom, who did he put in charge? Peter. There is my case. If your faith isn't relevant relevant to everyday worldly issues, then it's not relevant.
[00:36:32] Peter Vazquez: And when you look up the meaning of Peter in the name books, it is The Rock. That's the definition of it. And and I'm not... I mean, I'm Peter's son. Right? You know, Peter's son. Anyways, I'll stop posting. We we set... We know we keep promising listeners we're gonna talk politics, sir.
[00:36:45] Michael Hennessy: I know. And what what what we're kinda... We're touching around the edges.
[00:36:48] Peter Vazquez: I I think we're talking some very important stuff when it comes to politics because the thing is this, on November 3 and those of us voting early, right, we have to make a decision. And there's a lot of people who, right, in the same tongue say, I love Jesus, but then look at politics and say, well, wait a minute. You know, I can't stand Trump or I can't stand this, and I'm gonna vote, you know, this way because I feel this way. But the fact of the matter is... And this isn't just statistics. When you look at it biblically, there's just some candidates because of their association or what they represent, and you just cannot...
[00:37:24] Peter Vazquez: In in my opinion, in good... I... Okay. Let me rephrase that. I cannot Yeah. In good conscience Yeah. Vote for them.
[00:37:32] Michael Hennessy: Well... And and let me just point out this. You know, take away the personalities. Take away the individuals and look at the two platforms.
[00:37:38] Peter Vazquez: Yes.
[00:37:39] Michael Hennessy: The platform of the Democratic Party is anti god. You just look at it's pro abortion. It's pro, gender confusion. It's pro, anything can be married. It's... You look at it. Everything in there is really against the word of god. If you look at... In fact, in 2010, in their convention, they voted that we have this God part and this one part of the platform. Should we keep it in? And they voted to take the last Yes.
[00:38:04] Peter Vazquez: They did. To top of the 12, we could fight
[00:38:06] Bob Savage: it up.
[00:38:06] Michael Hennessy: Democratic platform.
[00:38:08] Peter Vazquez: They did.
[00:38:09] Michael Hennessy: So they made it godless intentionally. And on the other hand, if you look at the Republican platform, pro life, pro marriage, pro, parental rights, pro religious rights, pro religious freedom, president Trump has been the most pro Christian president ever.
[00:38:27] Peter Vazquez: But the due difference between the two parties, god's presence within the political part of it all has been consistent in the Republican Party since its inception, and I dare every caller to prove me wrong.
[00:38:39] Michael Hennessy: Yeah. No. It's it's plain obvious if you if you'll open your eyes and look at
[00:38:43] Peter Vazquez: it. So so have a a a a listener from the West Coast. As ever, actually, we're doing great throughout this nation. Ladies and gentlemen, thank you for listening. Share with your friends. Share the social media. We are worldwide. We got a very consistent listening in, in Israel. Mark Turner says or asks, is Islam excluded in the reading of the separation of church and state, or are masks to be treated the same as the churches in such separation?
[00:39:12] Peter Vazquez: People like Kathy Hochul, people like Newsom, Grewson, they all would would agree with the latter.
[00:39:18] Bob Savage: I just got you to jump in here and say, once again, you you miss a little. You miss a lot. Yeah. There is no separation of church and state.
[00:39:27] Michael Hennessy: Right.
[00:39:27] Bob Savage: That was a political fiction that was, dreamt up by a certain
[00:39:33] Peter Vazquez: political set. Politicians love to try to use it.
[00:39:36] Bob Savage: Well, yeah, because it's convenient. Yeah.
[00:39:37] Peter Vazquez: It's a mosque of churches.
[00:39:38] Michael Hennessy: Well, but we have to educate ourselves on what the truth is. And the truth is is that that whole, phrase was not in the constitution. It's not in the bill of rights. It's not in our letter of independence. It's in a letter that Jefferson sent to the Baptists in Massachusetts who were afraid the congregationalists were gonna make Massachusetts a congregationalist state. And he said, no. Don't worry about that. We're writing in a separation of church and state that would protect the Baptist from the congregationalist making official religion law in that state.
[00:40:12] Speaker 7: I see. And that's it.
[00:40:13] Michael Hennessy: But it's been twisted into means something else.
[00:40:16] Peter Vazquez: The honorable Michael Henniston, host, Good News Talk, executive director, Youth for Christ. See, Mira, a hero, a lifesaver. Good News Talk, every Saturday and Sunday. I'll tell you what time when we get back. Don't go nowhere. It's me, Peter Vasquez. Lines are open. (585) 346-3000.
[00:42:15] Peter Vazquez: Mucha gracias. Mucha gracias, senor. Ladies and gentlemen, I wanna hear from you at least once before we end this show today. See? I absolutely do. Social media, Facebook, Twitter, Rumble, leave your messages. I'll respond. If not today, a little bit later, but I will respond for sure as I'm sure you'll respond to all the messages. Right, honorable Michael? We'd love
[00:42:37] Michael Hennessy: to hear from you.
[00:42:38] Peter Vazquez: Hey. Do me a quick favor. If you can do it short, though, because I I do wanna get into a couple of candidates. Yeah. Can can you tell her... Listen. Because you are a person that, in my opinion, I learned from. You are a mentor to me, just like senior Sabaje and and a couple other people that I've identified in my life are just genuine. Difference... Because I get questioned on this. So it's gotta come from you. K. You're the authority.
[00:43:00] Michael Hennessy: We'll see.
[00:43:01] Peter Vazquez: The difference between a pastor and a chaplain, sir. Because the state... I'm sorry. The state are referred to a chaplain as ordained sometimes. Yeah. So so so talk to me about that.
[00:43:11] Michael Hennessy: Yeah. Not much. I mean, especially when you get when you get to a a a... An ordained pastor who's a pastor to the marketplace, you're a pastor to, you know... Originally, it was a military thing. So it's just... It's it's a it's... A chaplain is a man of god who's not, sequestered to a certain church. Your, as a chaplain, those chaplains are meant to to reach the, unsaved. The chaplain... Flower City Chaplains has... Is chaplains Great work. There with with Alicia Damore.
[00:43:48] Peter Vazquez: Now you're listening to Martin.
[00:43:49] Michael Hennessy: Yeah. Yeah. Those chaplains minister to the cops Yeah. And the firefighters that need that need their their men in their profession that need a word of God. So I... It's just a matter of who you're talking to is is is... If there's any difference at all.
[00:44:05] Peter Vazquez: No. No. I participated with Flower City Chapel.
[00:44:08] Michael Hennessy: It's
[00:44:08] Peter Vazquez: a phenomenal group. Talk about an organization that understands and sees the impact. And this isn't a comment from the... This this is my comment, ladies and gentlemen, but sees the impact of bad political policy every single day in the lives of those people that are charged with upholding those policies.
[00:44:27] Peter Vazquez: Yeah. Like the, well, you know, like telling kids they can't be out after twelve or, you know, at whatever time, but yet telling cops they can't hold them accountable. Yeah. The kids spit on them.
[00:44:38] Michael Hennessy: And and I... And I've had a conversation with Justin Collins too, who's the recruitment officer for RFPD, and he brings these kids in that are that are in this... And I remember interviewing kids back in '22 when when, you know, the whole defund the cops and BLM whole thing started. And I said, what to these recruits? What is it about you that, wants to go and do this job at a time when the whole community, everything isn't working against you. And these kids say, it makes me wanna do it more. Yeah. Because regardless of what the political winds say, people need to be protected, and people need to be safe.
[00:45:14] Michael Hennessy: And it's even more reason for me to step in and
[00:45:17] Speaker 5: do it.
[00:45:17] Peter Vazquez: You know, I know we can't... Or or... I mean, I can. Do you want to talk about any particular candidates that, that we should probably highlight? I mean, I... We've got the obvious. Bruce Blakeman should be elected. We know that. We see it every single day. We hear it every single day. We know that, you know, on the senate, we got Morelli in Virginia. I mean, again Not in the Yep. For Congress. Thank you. The the the the the choice there is is pretty straightforward. But what other races, especially those that impact faith in the marketplace, that impact god, country, and family, and that balance of...
[00:45:52] Peter Vazquez: Well, the way, you know, the way I like to call it, their balance of faith and, of politics and entrepreneurship.
[00:45:58] Michael Hennessy: I would say this, that, you know, knowing we don't have a lot of time left, if we don't elect Bruce Blakeman as governor and Sarissa as attorney general, It's our last chance to save the state, in my opinion.
[00:46:15] Michael Hennessy: Because if if if if we can't put Blakeman... If we can't change the tide of the direction that we're going in New York state and Blakeman isn't elected, then half of the people that voted for Blakeman are gonna leave again. And if we lose a million... Another million or two, sane voters from this state after we've already lost 200,000,000, there's not gonna be enough of us left to save it. So I think it's one of our last chances to to correct the direction that New York state is going in.
[00:46:47] Peter Vazquez: Kathy Hochul has even talked about. She says we keep losing people and I'm like, yeah. Because of you. Yeah. And the policies that are in place and the nonsense that that socialist, in, the Islamist, actually, in New York City mayor is doing to New York City. So let's spend the last few minutes then since we're not gonna bring a particular client or or or candidates talking about the impact and the cultural impact of some of the, policies that are being proposed by the Democrat Socialists of America Yeah.
[00:47:17] Peter Vazquez: Even though people say, well, you know, that's not true. Democrats don't all agree with that. Well, bilarkey. Because this is what you're representing because on their ticket
[00:47:25] Bob Savage: Yeah.
[00:47:25] Peter Vazquez: There's people like Mandani. Yeah. There's people like Al Sayed. There's people like what's, you know, happening throughout that they wouldn't even talk to them during their last month because it became a little bit popular. Listen. Now all of a sudden Listen.
[00:47:38] Michael Hennessy: The person running New York state right now is Mamdani.
[00:47:42] Bob Savage: Mhmm.
[00:47:42] Michael Hennessy: That city that that city controls Albany right now. It's obvious. That's why Kochel is is is... She's sleeping with Mamdani because she knows she can't win without his endorsement. If we don't change the governor, then then the politics of Maumdani are coming directly to Rochester with no filter, no backstop, no nothing. We're gonna be living under New York City rule no matter what he decides to do is what we're gonna have in Rochester.
[00:48:11] Bob Savage: And when you talk about the politics of Maumdani, just take a look at Paris.
[00:48:17] Michael Hennessy: There it is.
[00:48:18] Peter Vazquez: You're born in Texas. Why do I keep saying that? In Texas, you know, they they they had protests because they're out there trying to motivate noncitizens or... I'm sorry.
[00:48:30] Michael Hennessy: Yeah. And the and
[00:48:30] Peter Vazquez: the Americans that hate America.
[00:48:32] Michael Hennessy: And the left... The the politics funding for their schools. France has the highest share of their GDP in the world at 57% of what they have goes to welfare, for schools, for welfare, for health care, to the people.
[00:48:54] Michael Hennessy: So if the highest percentage of of of funding in the world isn't enough to save France, It's not enough to save America either.
[00:49:03] Peter Vazquez: Because it's not about money. Right. It's ideological. Correct.
[00:49:05] Bob Savage: Color color revolutions are always based in some kind of false pretense. Yeah. You you can always isolate that out and find out that the... You know, that's a bunch of bunk about education. That's an excuse. And not only that, most of the rioting's not being done by students.
[00:49:18] Michael Hennessy: No. France is under... France is under siege because of their open borders.
[00:49:22] Peter Vazquez: I believe that those that are are looking to destroy the West, right, if France is in the pathway of destroying America, are using their economic hardships at the moment, right, to to tread it.
[00:49:35] Peter Vazquez: Because they'd use words like this. Right? They say things like, listen. Our proposals, right, when we do socialism or Islam, because it's not. Let's call the elephant what it is because the people calling for this are are Islam. That that... That's what they're promoting. I'm sorry, ladies and gentlemen. It's a fact. That is what you're embed with when you align with the Democrat party. They're calling this, though. They say, their proposals would reduce economic and security and redistribute power towards working people.
[00:50:05] Michael Hennessy: Yeah. But... Yeah. And I think, you know, to answer that person's question that called in from from LA, there is a difference between the religion of of the Muslim religion and Islam. Islam is jihad. Yeah. Jihad is the intifada. And, you know, the people that are supporting DSA are charming. Globalize the intifada. In other words, bring it from France to New York City and bring it from New York City to the state in the country.
[00:50:31] Peter Vazquez: You know, you... You've gotta meet pastor Kentuck because he he agrees. I know. You're doing all that.
[00:50:36] Speaker 6: Yeah. I know.
[00:50:36] Michael Hennessy: I know. I know.
[00:50:36] Peter Vazquez: He's my pastor now. I started attending that church.
[00:50:39] Michael Hennessy: I, I meet him monthly at a meeting we have up in, Greece Assembly of God with pastor Pat.
[00:50:44] Peter Vazquez: Housing is a human right. So those... The DSA and the Democrats have been trying to sell us for some time. That's how they're trying to get us wrapped in the web just like friends. Pastor, we're down to the last few minutes. Let's set politics aside for a second, if you don't mind. I wanna talk about good news talk. Amen. You're you're you're... This Saturday, you're you're normally on at 02:00, but because of a wonderful game at the, Saint Bonaventure.
[00:51:10] Michael Hennessy: Or or Bonaventure.
[00:51:11] Peter Vazquez: Yep. By the Vonnies, the men's basketball team. Your show, instead of coming on at 02:00 on Saturday, will be at 04:00 on Saturday.
[00:51:19] Michael Hennessy: We're gonna have a great guest this weekend. Who's it gonna be? Peter Vasquez.
[00:51:22] Peter Vazquez: Really? Yeah. Oh, man. I didn't know that. Are you gonna tell me?
[00:51:25] Michael Hennessy: I'm gonna let you know.
[00:51:26] Peter Vazquez: Right? To work on. I look forward to to being in your show.
[00:51:29] Michael Hennessy: Amen. And then so, Saturday at four, this weekend only, and, Sunday, 10AM and 2PM.
[00:51:36] Peter Vazquez: Sunday, 10AM and two... And you're gonna be on the live stream at w y... At, Cheevers. Bob, the website for your your
[00:51:43] Bob Savage: wysales1040.com.
[00:51:45] Peter Vazquez: And you'll be streamed at 02:00 on Saturday there. So they can catch it on the website, or they can catch it live before the clock.
[00:51:51] Michael Hennessy: Catch it right now on Michael J. Hennessy Facebook.
[00:51:54] Peter Vazquez: And I'll tell you, dude, ladies and gentlemen, you know, I don't... We don't have these shows because we have some... We're busy. Like you said, you work eighty hours a week. I've got 10 grandkids. I mean, I'm busy. I love what I'm doing. We do this because we want people to engage. Well, and if
[00:52:10] Michael Hennessy: if I have a if I have a second, I'll explain what what Good News Talk is all about. It's about connecting faith to the marketplace because the whole premise of the show is when god spoke the world into existence, it wasn't just a manifestation of the virgin, the bees, and the boys, and the girls. It was its operating system. Everything operates under mind, body, and spirit or faith. And if you... And the world tries to solve every chronic cultural problem they... There is out there with two of the components you need to solve it. And until you add faith to any chronic cultural problem, you can't fix it.
[00:52:41] Peter Vazquez: Businesses are told by the state of many other, consultants, business consultants, strategist, They're like, stay away, be a political, be a god or whatever that means, and all this other stuff. But you're saying that god in the micro... In the marketplace actually brings me profit?
[00:52:57] Michael Hennessy: Absolutely. I agree with that. You can't... In fact, you'll never be as as as financially, healthy as you could be as if you added faith to it.
[00:53:06] Peter Vazquez: But but genuine faith. Genuine. A dedication, a change of life, an embracement of who God, country, and family truly is.
[00:53:14] Michael Hennessy: That would be a relationship with Jesus Christ in my definition.
[00:53:17] Peter Vazquez: Pick up your own cross, ladies and gentlemen. Follow God, and more importantly, listen to good news talk 04:00 this Saturday. Amen. Peter Vasquez is gonna
[00:53:27] Bob Savage: be there.
[00:53:29] Peter Vazquez: Be a leader. Be a leader. Be a leader. God bless these United States Of America. Never ever let a second go by where you are not a voice for liberty. And, hey, go vote.
