[00:00:25] Peter Vazquez: Adam. The world that seems to change daily, what will you do next? Welcome to the next steps show with Peter Vazquez, a starting point for discussion. Yep. Mira, check it. Today, one day before New Yorkers choose their representative, yep, Every political party is asking for the authority to govern. That authority, that's not a trophy, ladies and gentlemen. That is a trust granted by the people for the people. Right? Constrained by the constitution and judged by the result 100%. And check this out, Mira. When a candidate says the government is protecting us, the next question must be protecting us from what and by what authority are you protecting us? Ladies and gentlemen, our guest for this next segment here, argues that the 58th District, right, Senate District needs a change of direction with less blame and more accountability. Joining us is Jim Bobreski, Democrat candidate for New York State Senate fifty 6. Sir, next step show.
[00:01:36] Jim Bobreski: Thank you.
[00:01:39] Peter Vazquez: So, Jim, you're on. Tell us, tell us who you are.
[00:01:42] Jim Bobreski: Yes. I'm Jim Bobreski. I'm running for the 58th, Senate District, which encompasses seven, counties, Yates County, Seneca, Shuler. Excuse me, the, Tioga County, Chemung, and, I say Schuyler.
[00:02:02] Bob Savage: Uh-huh. Yeah. Yeah. Just what you meant to say.
[00:02:06] Jim Bobreski: And, so my goal is to bring change. I'm an engineer, and, my goal is that we're... We we need a technology person in this day and age with AI, data centers, and, power generation being all very important factors as well as communications. And we are in a tremendous flux now with AI. And we we also have issues with the tariffs with farmers that have affected, the, small farmer in particular.
[00:02:52] Peter Vazquez: Hey. Hey, Jim. It's Jim. No. It's Jim. Jim. Is it
[00:02:56] Bob Savage: Jim? I'm sorry. Excuse me. I'm sorry.
[00:02:58] Peter Vazquez: Yeah. Hey, Jim. Only because we don't have a a a ton of time. I wanna make sure we get to some issues specifically. That's okay. Although
[00:03:05] Jim Bobreski: Oh, yeah.
[00:03:05] Peter Vazquez: The things that you mentioned are very important. But but your your your website, your, you know, you argue that Washington is using federal powers against states whose voters reject his administration. You're saying that, you're saying that, what is it? Jeepers. I'm sorry. The I don't mean to laugh, sir. It's just I I was reading your words in regards to immigration, and it just made me chuckle a little bit. Tell us where you stand on immigration. Why do you oppose it? Why do you believe that, that that that that it's a problem here?
[00:03:41] Jim Bobreski: Well, I don't oppose immigration at all. We're we're... Except for the Native Americans who were here first, we're all immigrants. The, I oppose the mistreatment of immigrants, particularly with with ICE and, the way that, this is not an American thing. And my opponent wants to have ICE, the local police to report to ICE. I guess that's that's my point. We need to be fair. We need to know that, the immigrants and, you know, today's immigrants have provided a lot in terms of affordability. And the... This current administration, now we're talking federal. I can only... As a representative, I can only deal with state issues, But I'm very concerned about ICE. I'm a second generation American.
[00:04:41] Bob Savage: Yeah. Jim, I got it. Listen. Let me ask you this question. Do you distinguish between, illegal criminal aliens and, or just those who broke the law coming here illegally?
[00:04:54] Jim Bobreski: I'm... Well, obviously, yes. Against criminal, aliens.
[00:04:59] Bob Savage: So you think that... Do you think ICE should, detain and remove illegal criminal aliens?
[00:05:05] Jim Bobreski: Yes. Yes. But I'm, the... I guess maybe what I'm thinking is the priority. There's a lot to this. For example, I'm sure we're thinking about drug trafficking, and there's two facets. We have the cartels, particularly in Mexico, that provide, quote, a service for the immigrants to get into this country, which is illegal. And also the the import... The exportation of drugs, Mexico is number one country for for that. Also, a big concern of mine is the American, armaments going into Mexico. For example, last year Okay. The government of Mexico turned over 23,000 weapons to the United States government, and much of this was used in organized crime. So these are the factors. Yes. Of course. And, of course, we have to think about the other factor that we don't consider is the Russian influence in The United States concerning sex trafficking Yeah. Money laundering, gambling, and fraud.
[00:06:20] Peter Vazquez: Which is why closing the borders is probably the better option, in my opinion, and being very stringent as to what, what is it that we let in. Jim, again, I'm not trying to cut you. I just wanna make sure we have time to cover some major, topics that I I saw that you were putting out. The... One of the other things or at least a a recent video, one of the things you put out was a second amendment. And and in that, second amendment video, you you said that you are also a second amendment advocate. Jim, stand by. I'm gonna play an audio cut of of what you said, and then I'd like you to expound on that. Audio cut one, please.
[00:06:54] Jim Bobreski (recorded audio): Second Amendment rights. This is a big
[00:06:57] Unidentified speaker: issue in in this 58 district.
[00:07:00] Jim Bobreski (recorded audio): 20% of the voters are Second Amendment advocates. I'm an advocate of Second Amendment. So relax. Nobody's taking your gun away. A gun people just want you to take responsibility for your guns.
[00:07:21] Peter Vazquez: So so, Jim, again, this is to clarify because the second amendment is is a huge issue nationwide and something that has dominated politics for as long as I can remember, sir. But, you know, when you said good people want firearm owners to take responsibility, sir, Can you define who the good people are and exactly what that responsible ownership is? And lastly, there's three parts to this question. The last part is what legal changes are you actually asking for in regards to second amendment?
[00:07:54] Jim Bobreski: Okay. The the good ownerships are people who buy the guns, register it, are trained, and advocate also good gun policies. And I say this because twenty two hundred kids die every year from guns. And in most cases, it's because they're improperly stored. And that's the good... The the good guy will do that. But with... The thing I stress is that we need responsibility. We also need the issue of the guns that are being exported or taken out of The United States by the criminal element. This is a big factor. And, as I just explained to Mexico, the the government turned over 23,000 weapons, many of them automatic. So... I'm sorry. And then your... The last part of your question.
[00:08:53] Bob Savage: Yes. I'm sorry.
[00:08:54] Peter Vazquez: No. Go ahead. The last part. What legal actions or what legal changes, would you actually be asking for as a state senator in New York state? Because the thing is this. New York state, at least in my opinion, and from what I see, and and many in our circles, many listeners, many in your area, I mean, I think it was your number where you put out 20%, in your area, our second amendment advocates. You identified as a second amendment advocate. But it seems very much that, at least the party that you've associated with, tends to focus more on what the legal owner is doing, right, than than the criminals. And the problem is this, second amendment is pretty absolute. And with every bad, there's gotta be a good. So my question to you, I guess, in in addition to the legal changes is, how do we protect the second amendment? Because every time the government in New York state has said or any elected official says, oh, don't worry. We're not trying to take a gun away. There seems to be a whole slew of rights taken away thereafter.
[00:09:51] Jim Bobreski: Well, the the misnomer is, as you said, the the the proper gun owners feel that they're being restricted. No. It's because of the other gun owners or the people who acquire weapons illegally. That's my target.
[00:10:09] Bob Savage: Wait a minute.
[00:10:10] Jim Bobreski: So... Wait. Wait.
[00:10:10] Bob Savage: Wait. Wait. Stop. Stop. So you say that you wanna target the legitimate law abiding gun owners based... But listen. Based upon the actions of those who break the law. Does that make any sense?
[00:10:24] Jim Bobreski: I I I think you're phrasing the question. I don't know the... And and
[00:10:29] Bob Savage: So I'm trying to get a straight answer out of you, Jim. Yeah. Do you have a straight answer?
[00:10:32] Jim Bobreski: Okay. Well, this... We're we're we're playing around with semantics here. What I'm saying No.
[00:10:39] Bob Savage: We're we're playing around with the truth versus BS. Yes. You understand me? So give us a straight answer here and get the hell off my phone.
[00:10:49] Jim Bobreski: I... I'm sorry you feel that way. No. It's it's targeting those who traffic in guns and who who aren't taking care of things.
[00:10:59] Bob Savage: So according to you, that would also include, law abiding gun owners.
[00:11:03] Jim Bobreski: No. It doesn't. Law abiding gun owners won't won't illegally sell their weapons to to somebody else that they don't know.
[00:11:10] Bob Savage: And why some... Why the restrictions?
[00:11:13] Jim Bobreski: For... Far as I just said, most of these weapons... And then you can follow this with the Department of Justice. Most of these weapons such as what Mexico has brought back were used by cartels.
[00:11:27] Bob Savage: Are we gonna talk about Mexico or we're gonna talk about New York State, Jim?
[00:11:32] Jim Bobreski: Yeah. They do... These guns do come out of New York State. New York State is not exempt from gun, gun traffic.
[00:11:38] Peter Vazquez: Alright, Jim. One last question that we have before we let you go, sir. And and the thing is this. We know where you stand on guns. You say you're a second amendment... A second amendment advocate. I I... I'm... Seriously, I'm gonna have to question that. Because the thing is this, and it's pretty simple. The second amendment is clear. It's not meant for hunting. It's not meant for, you know, it's not even meant for keeping criminals out of your house. It's actually written to keep the government, right, especially what we see now from infringing on the rest of our rights and and check it out. That's what the second amendment was for. Now that's fine, but we don't have a lot of time. You bring up on your campaign and you seem to make a big issue, and I say that respectfully, in regards to cancer concerns. You're the only candidate across the nation, actually, because I looked, that that had brought up cancer concerns. You've got about a minute to to push that. Or or what is that about?
[00:12:32] Jim Bobreski: The the cancer concerns, as I pointed out, the Schuler County is number one in New York state and Yates County.
[00:12:38] Peter Vazquez: Are you
[00:12:38] Bob Savage: talking about Schuyler County or Schuyler County?
[00:12:42] Jim Bobreski: Maybe I'm... But I I think they pronounce it Schuyler County.
[00:12:46] Bob Savage: Yes. Correct. It might it might be helpful if you knew the names of the counties that you wanna represent, Tim.
[00:12:51] Jim Bobreski: Well, Schuyler is a German pronunciation.
[00:12:54] Bob Savage: Oh, isn't it? Maybe I
[00:12:55] Jim Bobreski: Oh my gosh. I got that wrong. Schuyler County. Okay. That's that's the term here... Used here. I apologize. The the issue with cancer is, to me, is rather obvious. And it's also cancer that's occurring among younger people. By that, I mean people between the ages of 30 and 50 who are not normally diagnosed with cancer. Cancer is usually when you're over 60 to 65.
[00:13:23] Peter Vazquez: I was gonna tell you there's a whole population, and I think the percentage was somewhere around fifteen or sixteen percent. Hey. Hey. Can we hang on to him? Because I do have one more question for him after the break. Just... I know. But I gotta know where he stands in the DSA. Jim, can you hang on for a minute?
[00:13:38] Unidentified speaker: Alright. Alright.
[00:13:40] Peter Vazquez: We'll be right back right here in the next step show. Ladies and gentlemen, don't hang that dial, especially for those of you in the Southern tier. We have Jim on the telephone. We're talking a senate race, 58. We'll be right back on WYSL, WLEA.
[00:15:14] Peter Vazquez: Gracia, ladies and gentlemen. I'm gonna be opening up lines here pretty soon. On the telephone, we have Jim Bobreski, Democrat candidate for the New York State Senate District 58, who's running against incumbent Republican conservative, senator Tom O'Meara. Jim, my last question for you, sir, and, actually, I do have a guest for the next segment here who has question for you as well. We'll make this quick. The Democrat Socialist of America, sir. Where do you stand on what they're offering? Because a lot of what you're talking about seems to align with their platform.
[00:15:48] Jim Bobreski: Well, first off, the definition of socialism is is changed and it's unfortunately an inflammatory word. And if you look at what socialism really means is cooperation, if you can put it in a nutshell. And we... Right now, it's being misused. It's not defined, and it's not... We're not talking Karl Marx
[00:16:12] Kalinda Washington: to cut you off, but socialism is allowing our government to tell us what to do and to take full control. I don't know where, that part comes from that you just said in terms of defining socialism.
[00:16:26] Peter Vazquez: Ladies and gentlemen, that voice is is Kalinda Washington, candidate for the Assembly District, 135, also running on the Republican conservative lines. Yes, sir. Jim, she makes a valid point. And and I guess that's the part that I wanted to give from
[00:16:44] Jim Bobreski: you. Begging your pardon. I I couldn't hear her. She came in while it was... While I was talking, and I I didn't hear what she said.
[00:16:53] Peter Vazquez: Oh, Kaluna?
[00:16:54] Kalinda Washington: Okay. So what I was just saying is that your definition of socialism is incorrect. Socialism is when the government tells us what to do and makes it look pretty.
[00:17:07] Peter Vazquez: And that's kinda defined throughout this nation. We've seen it in Mexico, as a matter of fact. We saw it in Cuba. We saw it in in in, in Venezuela not that long ago. Jim, listen. It takes a lot of courage to come in a radio show that, that that doesn't always align, right, 100%. So I'm gonna give you kudos for that, sir. I'm gonna give you about, at least another twenty seconds or so to, you know, say whatever it is you wanna share with our with our listeners, and then your website.
[00:17:34] Jim Bobreski: Okay. Twenty seconds. I'm not gonna be able to cover socials. I'd like to share my background. I'm Polish, German, and Russian, and my father was a, death camp translator. So I think I know a little bit about government control. Now we talk about socialism. We have to social... Talk about, for example, the 8,000,000,000 given to our farmers, which I'm glad was done. But as a compensation that goes to large businesses such as what's happening with data centers. Meta, for example, I think just posted a $31,000,000,000 bond and, is looking for, a lot of these well heeled companies, or at least what we're told, are also looking for government incentives, and they're quite large. Yeah. We also have the industrial, development agency in this area, which has assets of $1,500,000,000, and I have that posted on my website.
[00:18:39] Peter Vazquez: You you do know everything you've mentioned, Jim, and I apologize for interrupting. We are getting to the end of the of the last... Of the... Of those twenty seconds. However, everything you just talked about are are are issues and policies that have been established by the party that has run this state for nearly fifty years, and that's the Democrat party. So so if there's any woes or concerns with policy, wouldn't it make sense that the Democrat party has to answer for them?
[00:19:07] Jim Bobreski: I think they do. I think that.
[00:19:09] Peter Vazquez: Alright, Jim. Jim, I appreciate you. I really do. Jim Bobreski, Democratic candidate for New York State Senate District 58. What's your website, sir, so people can listen and can learn more about you and contact you?
[00:19:23] Jim Bobreski: Bobreski. It's it's, it's, Slavic for son of beaver.
[00:19:28] Peter Vazquez: Look at that. I'm sorry. You know what? I'm Puerto Rican. English, second language, I mess up on pronunciations all the time, and I apologize
[00:19:35] Unidentified speaker: for that.
[00:19:35] Peter Vazquez: But you can understand that. Right? Because, you know, immigrants are not.
[00:19:38] Jim Bobreski: Most most people do mess up. We're... I appreciate it.
[00:19:42] Peter Vazquez: Alright. So have a great day. We appreciate it. We appreciate you too. Ladies and gentlemen, check this out. Lines are open. (585) 346-3000. (866) 552-1009. I'm sorry.
[00:19:54] Bob Savage: So by the way, I just wanna jump in here and apologize. You know, I... We try to be tolerant here at at the station, but, when somebody comes on and just lies and just makes stuff up and obviously doesn't know what the hell they're talking
[00:20:11] Peter Vazquez: about Can you play cut one one more time? I just... People need to hear what this may, excuse me, people need to hear what candidates that are on the ballot. Right? What their options are.
[00:20:20] Bob Savage: Cut one. Hang on. I I closed the window out. Oh, yeah. Same thing to be safe.
[00:20:23] Peter Vazquez: Did he No. No. No. No worries because
[00:20:26] Kalinda Washington: that everyone in this country is an immigrant.
[00:20:29] Bob Savage: Yeah. He did.
[00:20:30] Peter Vazquez: He did.
[00:20:30] Bob Savage: He did. We're all immigrants. Wow.
[00:20:32] Peter Vazquez: Except for the except for the ones that were here before us, which is
[00:20:36] Kalinda Washington: The Native Americans. Native Americans. Wow.
[00:20:38] Bob Savage: I get the cut now from you.
[00:20:39] Kalinda Washington: I thought it was dangerous.
[00:20:40] Peter Vazquez: Listen to the second, Clinton, because I want your opinion too. Ladies and gentlemen, listen, and then I wanna hear from
[00:20:47] Jim Bobreski (recorded audio): you too. Mira, cut one. Second Amendment rights. This is a big issue in
[00:20:50] Unidentified speaker: in this 58th District.
[00:20:52] Jim Bobreski (recorded audio): 20% of the voters are second amendment advocates. I'm an advocate of second amendment. So relax. Nobody's taking your
[00:21:02] Bob Savage: gun away. Oh, jeez.
[00:21:04] Peter Vazquez: So so this, ladies and gentlemen.
[00:21:07] Jim Bobreski (recorded audio): I just want you to take responsibility
[00:21:11] Peter Vazquez: for your guns. The good people.
[00:21:13] Bob Savage: Yeah. The good the good people, which, he he admits they don't, they they... They're law abiding, but he still... He thinks that, we're we're not doing a good enough job. I mean, we're good, but we're not good enough.
[00:21:23] Peter Vazquez: So so where in his plan are we gonna be disc... Or is he gonna be discussing what he's gonna do about, well, those people that are using the guns to cause harm that aren't legal citizens, which is what we need to go after.
[00:21:36] Kalinda Washington: Right.
[00:21:36] Peter Vazquez: I'm sorry. Kalinda Washington, ladies and gentlemen. Yeah.
[00:21:39] Bob Savage: Let's bring her let's bring her in and tell people who she is.
[00:21:42] Peter Vazquez: Yep. Assembly candidate for the 1 35th Assembly District. K k k... Okay. Just right off the bat, do you have anything aligned with this guy?
[00:21:51] Kalinda Washington: Well, I feel that people should have a a right to their second amendment. And I... The only thing that I would like to say to, those people who are gun owners is that I value and appreciate your morals and your values. This is a very important election year. Most registered gun owners don't want the government to have their, information, and I do understand that. But I'm going to just encourage you to come out because I am willing to be your voice, not a contradicting runaround answer that doesn't give you an answer. Uh-huh. If I don't know it, I'm going to find it. And, yeah, I'm not gonna lie to the people.
[00:22:34] Peter Vazquez: Oh, because that's a straight shooter. Isn't that something? You know, it it kills me because, you know, gun owners, have not voted in the numbers that they could be voting at for many, many years. And I think that this, candidate in the Senate District 158, Jim Bobreski. Did I say that right this time?
[00:22:56] Bob Savage: I think so.
[00:22:57] Peter Vazquez: Alright. And, you know, that gives you a clear reason as to why gun owners and those of you that believe in the constitution should be voting this year. And the thing is this, guys. I don't even believe it's about Republican or Democrat anymore. You need to look at the person because, see, you've got Republicans out there that are saying things that aren't right either. I'm just saying you really gotta do your homework. Now with that being said, Mira, let me tell you something. Let me tell you something. Because see, Malcolm X told us a long time ago. You remember this conversation? Yes. I mean, we weren't there.
[00:23:29] Kalinda Washington: Yeah. At
[00:23:29] Peter Vazquez: least I hope you weren't there. No. I wasn't there. You look pretty damn good for being there if you were. Thank you. He said, said, listen, you know, these Democrats and and and conservatives, they're they're all racist.
[00:23:39] Kalinda Washington: Yeah.
[00:23:39] Peter Vazquez: But but on these these Democrats, they're gonna lie to your face. They're gonna make you they're gonna make you cook for them. Yeah. Right? Talking about we familia Yeah. And then they're gonna turn around, rape your daughter, steal your firstborn son, make him work in the field, and then say, what are you talking about? This is America.
[00:23:55] Kalinda Washington: Right. Off of a profit.
[00:23:56] Peter Vazquez: Off of a... Oh, man. Good people. You're a good people.
[00:24:00] Kalinda Washington: Yes. I try to be.
[00:24:01] Peter Vazquez: Bob, I wonder if, I wonder if, Gary Stout is a good people.
[00:24:05] Bob Savage: Well, you know, if, it depends on who's, looking, you know, and who's making the evaluation. But, I mean, I I can't make hide... Eidner heads or tails out of his arguments about gun owners. It makes no sense to me whatsoever.
[00:24:21] Kalinda Washington: Not only that, though, not to interrupt you, but, while we're on the air, people need to realize that it's not the legal gun owners that we need to be worried about. We need to be worrying the illegal guns that are being dropped in square neighborhoods.
[00:24:33] Peter Vazquez: Yes. We're gonna talk all about the, all about your district when we get back. Right? We're gonna talk about A D 135. We're gonna talk about Kalinda Washington, and we're gonna get into it. Ladies and gentlemen, if you are in Senate District 58, I strongly encourage you, especially if you're a god, country, and family. You know, those crazy MAGA or those crazy gun owner people, Tom O'Mara, ladies and gentlemen. He's on the ballot. right back right here on the next show with Peter Vazquez.
[00:30:49] Peter Vazquez: And we are back.
[00:30:51] Bob Savage: Got Kalinda Washington in here along with Peter Vazquez. It is next steps.
[00:30:57] Peter Vazquez: And the next step is what we're taking, ladies and gentlemen. Pero Mida, before we get to this next caller, before we talk more politics, I wanna take one second, Bob. I I wanna acknowledge something today because today is National Broadcast Traffic Professionals Day. Today Yay, Bobby d. Exactly. Yes. Exactly. Because experience truth on a daily basis twenty four seven. Bobby d, thank you for everything that you do.
[00:31:31] Bob Savage: Amen. By the way, traffic, people out there who are not familiar with, with, radio ease, you know, the industry terms, traffic means the scheduling of stuff on the station. Does it... Doesn't mean being in a helicopter looking down at the 390.
[00:31:46] Peter Vazquez: No. I'm glad you pointed that out. See, that's why you're a national treasure, sir.
[00:31:51] Bob Savage: I think there's a guy down in Shoe... Schumer County that probably doesn't think I'm exactly the national treasure right now, but that's another story.
[00:31:59] Peter Vazquez: That's okay. You know what? People like that individual need to stay in the southern tier somewhere in the woods behind the tree.
[00:32:05] Bob Savage: Under under a rock.
[00:32:06] Peter Vazquez: Under a rock, growing their own, you know, corn and their own government. Ladies and gentlemen, we have a Greece candidate, I believe, Amoretta. And if I mispronounce it, I apologize.
[00:32:16] Amorette Miller: Amorette Miller.
[00:32:17] Peter Vazquez: Amoretta. Yeah. Amorette Miller. Thank you. Kalinda No problem. Amorette Miller, thank you for calling in. A a couple minutes to share about your campaign.
[00:32:26] Amorette Miller: Hi, Peter. How are you? Do you hear me?
[00:32:28] Peter Vazquez: I hear you, and I'm doing great. Thank you.
[00:32:31] Amorette Miller: Awesome. Thank you so much for having me on. My name is Amorette Miller. I'm a councilwoman in Greece, and I'm running for reelection. And election day, as everyone should know by now, is tomorrow. Yeah. I'm also deputy supervisor under supervisor Jeff McCann. We won this past November. And because of the state's harmonization of the calendars, local elections are appearing on the ballot again, and I'm on the ballot again. And so I, I've been working very hard, working... Reaching across the aisle, and moving forward, trying to right, the wrongs of the past, administration. And, is there anything that I can answer for you?
[00:33:27] Peter Vazquez: You know, not just if you can clarify what lines you're gonna be on your website so that our listeners can reach you, find you, ask you questions directly, and choose whether they want to vote for you or not.
[00:33:40] Amorette Miller: Sure. I'm a Democrat. I'm also on the working families line. My website is, voteemirate.org, and I hope folks, vote for... To reelect me. Thank you.
[00:33:54] Bob Savage: Hey, Emira. Real quick, before you go, how do you feel things are going up there in the town of Greece? You think, everything's, running pretty smoothly and doing the the the recent administration, I guess I'll call it, is, has got got a lid on things?
[00:34:09] Amorette Miller: Yeah. Yeah. I think that, we've made great strides since, being sworn in in January. And now we're working on, you know, a pilot for the refuse districts. We are dialing into our roads and paving for next year. We're working on our budget. We just passed 100%, disabled veteran exemption, and that's very exciting.
[00:34:37] Peter Vazquez: More than a day.
[00:34:38] Amorette Miller: Of veterans and senior center in the library.
[00:34:41] Peter Vazquez: I'm sorry. I I I just exemptions for veterans. I need you to please talk a little bit about that. Again, I'm short on time so quickly.
[00:34:50] Amorette Miller: Okay. So, if you have 100% disabled status as a war veteran, as a a part of conflict, you will not have to pay property taxes in Greece.
[00:35:04] Unidentified speaker: What?
[00:35:06] Amorette Miller: Right.
[00:35:07] Bob Savage: Wow. Great. I've done this at this point. Yeah. Yeah. Fantastic.
[00:35:12] Amorette Miller: It's not just degrees. It's it's different towns that have opted into it. Something that town boards would have had to opt into, and they're still doing that across the county. But we already voted this last month.
[00:35:25] Bob Savage: Is it... So this this is a state program then?
[00:35:29] Amorette Miller: This is rolled out from the state. Monroe County has opted in, and so has the town of Greece and several other towns as well.
[00:35:40] Bob Savage: Interesting. Well, that's, that's good news. Thanks. Appreciate that. Appreciate
[00:35:43] Peter Vazquez: it very much.
[00:35:44] Amorette Miller: So much.
[00:35:45] Peter Vazquez: Name and website one more time because I did kinda cut that off.
[00:35:48] Amorette Miller: Awesome. Emorett Miller, reelect to Greece Town Board, and, voteemorett.org.
[00:35:56] Peter Vazquez: Thank you very much, ma'am. Appreciate your time. May god bless you and continue to work, a a blessed work that you do, ma'am. I appreciate it. Ladies and gentlemen, lines are open. Kalinda Washington. You know, we're talking about every other candidate but you. What's that all about?
[00:36:10] Kalinda Washington: I'm I'm enjoying this. I'm enjoying this.
[00:36:13] Peter Vazquez: I am giving you a perspective?
[00:36:14] Kalinda Washington: It has given me, a perspective.
[00:36:17] Peter Vazquez: Can can I just share this, though? This is how bold Democrats have become, and this isn't a a thing in miss Miller or or Jim or whoever. But but do you know this is the first time in the five plus years that I've been doing this and the almost over 800 episodes that I've been working on Mhmm. Right, that Democrats have called in consistently.
[00:36:35] Kalinda Washington: Yeah. I think, part of that reason is because of, what you were talking about earlier with DSA. Yeah. They're they're trying to separate themselves, and that's gonna be a very challenging thing to do when your governor seems to align with many of their beliefs.
[00:36:51] Peter Vazquez: Well, the governor aligns with whatever makes, a a a poll in her favor, Kalinda. That's what she does. Yeah. Let's talk about you, though. Okay. You you stand on quite a few things.
[00:37:02] Kalinda Washington: I do.
[00:37:02] Peter Vazquez: And because I've had so many other people coming in, what would you like to talk about now?
[00:37:07] Kalinda Washington: Whatever you wanna talk about. I'm just happy to be here. I mean, tomorrow is, of course, election day. Mhmm. And I know that nerves are probably really sporadic for all candidates.
[00:37:21] Peter Vazquez: Oh, I can imagine.
[00:37:23] Kalinda Washington: You know, to the community and to your listeners, this is time to have some change going around. And the change that's happening, I just wanted to let them know that, you know, you have to consider people out... The people who you are voting for are the people who are gonna be your voice up in Albany.
[00:37:43] Peter Vazquez: Yeah. Because we're we're asking people to take... Is this the part people forget about elections? Kalinda, please take authority over my future.
[00:37:52] Unidentified speaker: Right.
[00:37:52] Peter Vazquez: That's what people are asking.
[00:37:53] Kalinda Washington: Right. I don't think that people really understand the different roles, within the government, within the state. So...
[00:38:01] Peter Vazquez: So so let's talk a little bit about socialism then. See, because I think that this discussion kind of encompasses, right, the difference between your opponent, who's the incumbent, and you. And every issue falls under that. I mean, New York City right now is laying out child free day care for all. You're a mom.
[00:38:22] Unidentified speaker: Yes.
[00:38:22] Peter Vazquez: I'm a I'm a dad. Yes.
[00:38:23] Kalinda Washington: I
[00:38:23] Peter Vazquez: was a single dad to boot. Yes. I know day care. Yes. Who's paying for it?
[00:38:27] Kalinda Washington: The taxpayers are But
[00:38:29] Peter Vazquez: but wait a minute. That's not what Mandani and the governor says or Jen Long's for it.
[00:38:32] Kalinda Washington: Say that. You know? And this goes back to the educational piece. When 54% of the county is illiterate, then, I mean, they're only gonna be able to comprehend so much. And I think that that's, one of the things that's really taking place is that people are, using that to their advantage. The fact that people aren't gonna go and find the right tools, especially, like, with the algorithm. If your algorithm has the same, you know, the same message, who's gonna know enough to say, hey. Let me check and see what the other side is saying. You know?
[00:39:05] Peter Vazquez: And the thing is the left is is very good at invoking people's emotions. Oh, you poor little black girl. Yeah. You poor little black girl with glasses, but you know what? Those glasses aren't good enough. Let's get you a better one because those Republicans, they gave you bad glasses. That's the nonsense that they pull.
[00:39:20] Kalinda Washington: Yeah. Lots of name calling, and both extremes are not healthy for our communities right now. What we really need to focus on are are the middle, and the middle is wide.
[00:39:33] Peter Vazquez: Okay. I'll tell you what. We're gonna go to caller here for a few seconds, but then I'm gonna ask you something because your opponent has expressly rejected the Democrat socialist label. Of course. And and this is the as I call it on this station. So the the the the the the the the that people try to pull on us Mhmm. When they say... Because every single one of her policies
[00:39:56] Kalinda Washington: Yeah.
[00:39:56] Peter Vazquez: Is very much aligned with the DSA. And she's refused very kindly and professionally
[00:40:02] Kalinda Washington: Of course.
[00:40:02] Peter Vazquez: Refused to come on the show to defend or at least career politician. She's a real politician. Politician being
[00:40:09] Kalinda Washington: the key. She's a career politician.
[00:40:11] Peter Vazquez: Gary, thank you for calling the Next Step Show, brother.
[00:40:14] Caller Gary: Hi, Peter. I don't wanna take time away from Kalinda because you got an important message.
[00:40:19] Peter Vazquez: But let me ask you first. Are you a good person when it comes to second amendment? I'm glad you called. I've been itching to ask you this, and I gotta ask you right off the bat.
[00:40:28] Caller Gary: Am I a good person?
[00:40:29] Peter Vazquez: Yeah. Because according to Jim, he's saying that good people deserve the second amendment and and and legal gun owners that aren't good. I mean, I don't know what that really meant, but are you good or not?
[00:40:41] Caller Gary: First of all, it's not his decision to make. That right comes from God.
[00:40:46] Bob Savage: Yes. That's right.
[00:40:47] Kalinda Washington: Amen.
[00:40:48] Caller Gary: And and, yeah, I'm a good person. I've, carried guns and used guns since I was about six years old. I didn't carry them too much back then, but I was brought up in a family where we were taught the rules of gun safety right away. And the schools actually taught it in the schools down there in Pennsylvania too.
[00:41:08] Peter Vazquez: I grew up in a school that told me that because what's in front of me is all I have, so picking up a gun doesn't really matter because I'm gonna end up in jail anyways. My dad just taught me different. Sorry, Gary. Pennsylvania.
[00:41:19] Caller Gary: No. Yeah. That's the problem because they've they've demonized guns. I mean, let's let's get right to the the point. The state in New York and other states and the federal government have become so corrupted by money and power that they have built systems to money launder our tax money until we're $40,000,000,000,000 in debt. They've spread it around the world. They've created wars, color revolutions. You're watching it now in Europe. And their whole goal was to get to a point where they could just say, this is how it's gonna be. They've got a one world government. We're gonna tell everybody how to live. Mhmm. And we've had a little taste of it, and the only thing standing between us and what's happening in Europe right now is the law of gun owners. They're They're willing to stand up and fight like our our, forefathers did.
[00:42:09] Bob Savage: Oh, man. And if
[00:42:09] Caller Gary: all these people that are trying to take our guns understand that the first revolutionary war was started not by taxes, but because they tried to take the colonists firearms and their gun powder.
[00:42:24] Peter Vazquez: Gary's up, ladies and gentlemen. Second round show. Every Monday... No. Every Wednesday or Monday, I forget.
[00:42:30] Bob Savage: Monday night, Wednesday night, Saturday noon, 6PM and 6PM Sunday.
[00:42:35] Peter Vazquez: There you go, ladies and gentlemen. And listen. If you find yourself in a position where you gotta write in a name, write in Gary Stout for senator, for president, for mayor, or whatever you want. Gary, I appreciate you. I'll be talking to you soon. Kalinda Washington, ladies and gentlemen, Senate 58th District, Tom O'Mara, 1 35th. Kalinda Washington. There you go. We'll be right back right here in the voice of liberty.
[00:44:13] Peter Vazquez: Mira, Mira, I am not a democrat socialist. Served assemblywoman Jen Lunsford right there, you know, on a local station. Ladies and gentlemen, I'll come back to the Next Step Show. Trish from Greece, New York. Thank you for calling the Next Step Show, ma'am.
[00:44:31] Caller Trish: Yeah. Thank you for taking my call. First of all, I do wanna say I am a good second amendment person.
[00:44:37] Peter Vazquez: I'm glad to. Good.
[00:44:39] Caller Trish: At the age of 61, I got my concealed carry permit.
[00:44:42] Peter Vazquez: Look at you. Congratulations. And that was just a couple days ago. Right?
[00:44:47] Caller Trish: Oh my gosh. Yeah.. So I was just calling about the person who was running in Greece, and she was touting the measure of the taxes, tax free for the fully For the debt. Veterans?
[00:45:03] Peter Vazquez: Yeah. Which I thought was pretty exciting. I believe she's also the deputy town leader, which deputy town leader on board concerns me, but that's another conversation.
[00:45:11] Caller Trish: With McCann. But what I wanted to bring to light is I do believe that all of the members on that board that had to vote for that are currently Republican.
[00:45:21] Bob Savage: Yeah. That's that's good to know.
[00:45:22] Caller Trish: That the town that the town did, that was something that was offered to them. They're riding on the coattails of what the Republicans have been doing.
[00:45:31] Peter Vazquez: But that's what Democrats do. Yeah.
[00:45:34] Caller Trish: Well, right. And I... But people need to understand this. Like, the guy that's running in against, my councilman, DiPantio, has got all these ads out spending on, you know, down, Dirty Creek and saying, I'm gonna fix this. Well, the Ponzio has been trying to and it's actually is being voted on next month. So they... It's just... It's very frustrating to me because I... We shouldn't vote Republican or Democrat. We should have an open mind and listen, but people can't listen Right. Because, unfortunately, our previous supervisor was corrupt.
[00:46:10] Peter Vazquez: Oh my gosh. She has the relic.
[00:46:13] Caller Trish: Yeah. And, I mean, he was... Republicans knew he was... We tried to get him out. We tried accountability, but the machine was just too big.
[00:46:21] Peter Vazquez: Trisha, I I gotta get back to my guest. Website and, and and who are you voting for? Who should people vote for? And please call back tomorrow to plug the same name if if you have it.
[00:46:33] Caller Trish: Okay. In my front yard, I have David DiPonzio, Josh Jensen, and Virginia McIntyre in Virginia is amazing. And Morelli.
[00:46:42] Peter Vazquez: Completely completely toppled Morelli at the recent debate.
[00:46:48] Caller Trish: Yeah. Well, you know, because all he's got is Trump.
[00:46:51] Peter Vazquez: Yeah.
[00:46:51] Caller Trish: Trump, Trump, Trump, Trump.
[00:46:52] Peter Vazquez: That's it. That's all they got.
[00:46:53] Bob Savage: That's all
[00:46:54] Peter Vazquez: all of her that way. Thank you, Trish from Greece. Thank you for calling. Ladies and gentlemen, don't be bamboozled. Trish, may god continue to bless you in the work that you do for us. DSA. I know. But the thing is this. So you got El Sayed running in Michigan even though he lost a major endorsement. You got Andani in New York City.
[00:47:16] Kalinda Washington: That's right.
[00:47:17] Peter Vazquez: Every single one of the policies that you are standing on Mhmm. Right, are all targeted by the DSA. Right. How are you, Kalinda Washington, right, a strong person here in Monroe County, a mother, a wife, an individual who understands... Oh, sorry. A single man just... I hope you heard that. Sorry. I'm gonna get myself in trouble. I gotta stop. Okay. Ma'am, all I ask is this. What are you gonna do for me and mine?
[00:47:50] Kalinda Washington: I am going to take the concerns of the voters to Albany, And I'm not gonna be quiet until they hear the voices of their constituents. That's part of that's part of the problem right now. The decisions are being made without, any sort of input from constituents. And interestingly enough, my my opponent, put out a survey earlier. And one of the major issues in the Hundred And 35th District that people are concerned about is the immigration. Because what what you see is you see certain pockets of population within, what one would consider an affluent community. And so then things start to, spread and take over.
[00:48:37] Bob Savage: Hey, Kalinda. Real quick. Before, before we take another step here, there's a significant portion of the audience that's always out there who's... They they may not be politically aware. Mhmm. You don't have the time to follow all these things. So just, you know, for, Cullinda Washington 101 here. The Hundred And 35th District, describe that for us.
[00:48:57] Kalinda Washington: So the Hundred And 35th District, encompasses Fairport, which is also Perinton, East Rochester, Mendon, Pittsford, and Penfield.
[00:49:07] Bob Savage: Okay. And your opponent is?
[00:49:10] Kalinda Washington: Jen Lunsford.
[00:49:11] Peter Vazquez: Gotcha. Okay. The the puke bag is next to you.
[00:49:14] Bob Savage: Oh, that's not nice.
[00:49:16] Peter Vazquez: I know. It's not,
[00:49:17] Bob Savage: but it
[00:49:17] Peter Vazquez: was funny. I mean, come on. Just a little bit.
[00:49:20] Kalinda Washington: Well, I spoke to a senator today, and, the senator did not know who she was. A lot of people a lot of people do not know who she is. And and the senator took a moment to stop and think about it and was like, I can't believe that I don't know who this person is. I'm gonna have to look them up. For someone who's been in office for two terms, two or three terms, you would think that you would make enough of an impact where people would know your name.
[00:49:44] Bob Savage: I was gonna say, is she even campaigning? I mean, I
[00:49:47] Caller Gary: don't think so.
[00:49:48] Kalinda Washington: She she has been she has been taking, her support system, which she said is primarily in Perrington and trying to get her, you know, trying to get her voters together. I haven't seen any recent TikToks, but,
[00:50:03] Peter Vazquez: They're nervous.
[00:50:05] Kalinda Washington: Well, they should be.
[00:50:06] Peter Vazquez: Nationwide. They're absolute... Let let me share a message from the West Coast if I may. Sure. This show reaches worldwide. Just... I love that. Okay. West Coast, Mark Turner says, it's been said that socialism would only work in heaven where it is not needed and in hell where they've already got it.
[00:50:28] Kalinda Washington: Yes. It's wild too because, when I was getting my nails done, my nail tech, she has... She's a citizen, an American citizen now. She went through that process legally, and, it took her a while to do so, but she came from a communist country. And she said, I have seen it. I've lived in it. And let me tell you, you all don't want it. Even... She was even mentioning that in order to have a job, like, you have to pay the government to have a job. People don't understand what's going on because they... It's one of those things where people are like, oh, well, that's not gonna happen to me. Well, we need to pay attention to what's going on in our country because some of these major issues are in, you know, neighboring states. Well, not too far.
[00:51:10] Peter Vazquez: I gotta ask. You know something? You grew up in a suburb.
[00:51:16] Kalinda Washington: I did.
[00:51:16] Peter Vazquez: Okay. Are you any different than any black folk in the city? No. No? You know, I gotta ask because check this out. My daughter goes to MCC. Yeah. She's doing great in the dental hygienist program. Right. And she had shared with me that a, a a co student, I guess, maybe somebody in the class with her had told her, unwarranted. My my daughter is, like, and
[00:51:40] Kalinda Washington: she's
[00:51:41] Peter Vazquez: gonna be quiet. Right? Yeah. That person told her that, that they will not sign up for the Trump account. It was changing the the the future of an entire generation in black and brown America. And where... Where's the proof of that? Well well, the... That's... Well, hang on. Let me finish my story, and then I'm gonna challenge you on that because that's a great question. I wasn't expecting it, but we're gonna go with it. Okay. This young lady said that she will not invest whatsoever into any Trump accounts because she does not want to be associated with Trump.
[00:52:17] Bob Savage: Now Doesn't doesn't it automatically happen?
[00:52:20] Peter Vazquez: No. You have to actually go
[00:52:22] Bob Savage: in sign up for it.
[00:52:23] Peter Vazquez: You have you have to request it. Yeah. Yeah. People born within the criteria have to accept it. Mhmm. Alright. So so why why does it matter, Kalinda? This is why it matters. What do you understand? And I'm gonna say this respectfully.
[00:52:36] Bob Savage: Okay.
[00:52:36] Peter Vazquez: What do you understand about the future value of money? And let me simplify that. What is a thousand dollars gonna be worth when your child who's born in 2026 is 19 year... 18, 19 years old?
[00:52:50] Kalinda Washington: I... To be honest with you, I can't see it improving if things continue to go the way that they are. I mean, over the last, you know, ten years, all we've seen is increase, increase, increase, increase. And what people don't understand is not only are people paying high prices, but they're being taxed in a high manner. So you're working hard, they're taxing you hard, and then they're charging you, you know, out of the out of the,
[00:53:17] Peter Vazquez: I can't even think of it right now.
[00:53:18] Kalinda Washington: The... I was gonna say wazoo.
[00:53:21] Peter Vazquez: That's a typical, you know, out of the behind kinda response is the wazoo.
[00:53:26] Kalinda Washington: And then you know what they do? They, they throw a $200 rebate check and say, hey. So sorry you've been paying, like, a $900 r and g... R and E bill, but here's a quick check.
[00:53:37] Peter Vazquez: Kalinda Washington, ladies and gentlemen. Would you come on post election?
[00:53:41] Kalinda Washington: I absolutely would because Kalinda is not going anywhere.
[00:53:45] Peter Vazquez: Can I get you in on Thursday, this Thursday?
[00:53:48] Kalinda Washington: We can talk about that after the show.
[00:53:50] Peter Vazquez: Maybe this Thursday, we're gonna have her back on for a post election discussion. Yeah. Kalinda Washington, let me tell you something. The Trump account's like a thousand dollars today. If you did nothing, equals in the future value of money, approximately, give or take, $25,000 by the time you're sun. Yeah. That is a game changer. Thank you.
[00:54:10] Kalinda Washington: You're welcome. Thank you, everyone. Let's get out and vote.
[00:54:13] Bob Savage: Hey, Glenna. Good luck. God's
[00:54:14] Kalinda Washington: been Thank you.
[00:54:15] Peter Vazquez: Absolutely. God's got you back. Be a leader. Be a leader. Be a leader. God bless this United States Of America, and don't let a second go by where you are not a voice
