Derrick Hollie is the founder of the Energy Poverty Prevention Project. The mission is to create equal access to affordable reliable energy for all Americans. The organization is committed to changing energy regulations that fail to provide all citizens with access to energy needed to maintain personal health and economic security.
Hollie has been leading the fight before Congress on expanding awareness of energy poverty, which occurs when individuals and families are unable to afford basic heating electric and gas needs. As a six time Congressional witness, his testimony before the House Natural Resources Committee and recommendations inspired H.R.5482 and S.2826 The Energy Poverty Prevention and Accountability Act.
Hollie is also an award-winning education and outreach campaign leader for the federal government, frequent television guest commentator, and business leader within the private and nonprofit sectors.
Hollie served as a Presidential appointee in the first Trump Administration as Director of The Office of Small and Disadvantaged Business Utilization for the U.S. Dept. of Transportation. His work sparks significant enthusiasm across political and cultural and social backgrounds.
