The microphones are hot and the gloves are off. Fred “Striker” Selber fills in for Peter Vazquez and dives straight into the rot beneath the surface—where failing schools cannot even pay their teachers, the media rewrites reality, and radicals call chaos “justice.” From the Rochester payroll disaster to the assassination of Charlie Kirk, from communist-backed “No Kings” rallies to the gaslighting denial of Antifa, this episode tears through the illusions of modern America. Striker exposes the heart of the Vanbōōlzalness Crisis—when corruption hides behind compassion and weakness pretends to be progress—and demands that listeners wake up, stand firm, and reclaim truth before the system collapses under its own deceit.
Guest host Fred “Striker” Selber fills in for Peter Vazquez on The Next Steps Show, cutting through the fog of the Vanbōōlzalness Crisis—where incompetence and ideology masquerade as progress. From Rochester’s payroll collapse to Charlie Kirk’s Medal of Freedom and the “No Kings” rallies, Striker exposes hypocrisy with a veteran’s grit and a truth-teller’s edge, keeping faith, family, and freedom at the center of America’s renewal.

The Next Steps Show – Guest Host: Fred “Striker” Selber
Intro
Peter Vazquez:
In a world that seems to change daily, what will you do next? Welcome to The Next Steps Show with Peter Vazquez—a starting point for discussion y un poco de dirección.
Fred “Striker” Selber:
Hello and welcome to The Next Steps Show. First off, I am not Peter Vazquez—as you can tell. I am Fred Selber, better known as Striker, host of Just an Old Guy with a Mic. You can find my podcast on WYSL1040.com.
I was born and raised in Rochester, grew up in the 10th Ward, went to Holy Rosary and Edison Tech. After school, I joined the New York Army National Guard and retired after 21 years as a Military Police officer. I served in Bosnia, at Ground Zero, and in Iraq during Operation Iraqi Freedom.
Peter joined me on my show earlier this year, and as he was leaving, he said, “Striker, I might need you to host Next Steps one day.” So here I am, sitting in his chair at WYSL, thanks to Dr. Bob and Bobby D in the booth keeping us on the air.
Live radio is a different beast from podcasting—you cannot hit pause or edit mistakes. It is raw, real, and energizing.
Segment 1: Rochester Teachers Association Lawsuit
The Rochester Teachers Association filed a lawsuit against the Rochester City School District over ongoing payroll issues. Four months in, the district still cannot pay employees correctly or on time. RTA President Adam Urbanski said they refuse to accept this as the “new normal.”
Striker:
It is unbelievable that in America—where innovation and problem-solving define us—a school district cannot cut paychecks. They have tax money, software vendors like Paychex right here in town, and yet teachers do not know if they will be paid.
Dr. Bob:
Exactly. If the superintendent’s paycheck was delayed, you can bet it would be fixed instantly. Real leadership would mean refusing pay until everyone is paid correctly.
Striker:
It is about accountability. People depend on those checks. It is time to stop making excuses and fix it.
Segment 2: Honoring Charlie Kirk
A week ago, President Donald Trump posthumously awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom to Charlie Kirk, founder of Turning Point USA. Kirk was assassinated while speaking at Utah Valley University in 2025.
Striker:
The media painted him as a racist and extremist, yet there is no evidence of that. Trump called him a “martyr for truth and freedom,” comparing him to Socrates, Lincoln, and Martin Luther King Jr.
The left mocked the award, but Kirk inspired young Americans to get married, start families, and live by traditional values. That is real leadership.
Dr. Bob:
Obama handed out 123 Medals of Freedom—to people like Oprah, De Niro, and Ellen. No one blinked. Yet honoring a conservative patriot sends them into hysterics.
Striker:
Exactly. The hypocrisy speaks volumes.
Segment 3: The No Kings Rally
Over the weekend, “No Kings” rallies took place nationwide. Grok, my AI researcher, found that communist groups—including the Communist Party USA—endorsed and joined the rallies.
Other supporters included Indivisible, ACLU, MoveOn, Planned Parenthood, SEIU, and Greenpeace—all promoting progressive talking points under the banner of “justice.”
Striker:
Here is my question—what was the goal? Protest is fine, but if you cannot articulate why you are out there, you are not part of a movement. You are part of the noise.
Dr. Bob:
And much of that noise is funded by U.S. tax dollars funneled through activist organizations. It is the illusion of grassroots outrage—the Vanbōōlzalness Crisis in full display.
Segment 4: Media Denial and Antifa
The mainstream media continues to deny Antifa’s existence, claiming it is a myth. Yet they have flags, uniforms, and organized actions. There is even Antifa: The Anti-Fascist Handbook by Rutgers professor Mark Bray.
Striker:
If that is not an organization, I do not know what is. Meanwhile, the Proud Boys get labeled as a terrorist group, though they have no headquarters and are loosely connected online.
The media calls violence “peaceful protest,” twisting language to fit ideology. That is gaslighting.
Segment 5: January 6 and Nancy Pelosi
Striker played audio of President Trump from January 6, 2021:
“We will soon be marching over to the Capitol to peacefully and patriotically make your voices heard.”
Striker:
That is the quote they refuse to play in full. The left cut out “peacefully and patriotically” because it destroys their narrative.
He also played Nancy Pelosi’s response from an HBO documentary, where she snapped at a reporter asking about refusing the National Guard.
Striker:
She said, “Shut up. I did not refuse the National Guard.” That sums up political arrogance perfectly.
Closing
Striker:
Thank you to Peter Vazquez, WYSL, Dr. Bob, and Bobby D for letting me sit in on The Next Steps Show. As John Lennon once said, “I hope I passed the audition.”
This episode exposed the Vanbōōlzalness Crisis—the inversion of truth, order, and reason. From broken systems to broken narratives, it is time to restore integrity, family, and faith in American life.
